GETTING A LIBRARY CARD
A free PINES library card is
available to any Georgia resident with proof of current address. A
Government issued picture I.D. that shows your current address (such as
a valid drivers license) is sufficient proof. If you have a Government
issued picture
I.D. that does not have your current address (such
as a passport); you will need one of the following in addition to your
passport: a lease, checkbook, utility bill, or insurance card with your
current address will be proof of residency. Patrons of all ages may
obtain a library card. A parent or legal guardian must sign for anyone
under the age of 18. A library card must be used for all transactions.

BORROWING PROCEDURE
When checking out items
(audios, books, kits, videos, and CDBKs or CDs) from the Nancy Guinn
Memorial Library, you will receive a receipt with the title of the item
checked out and the date the item is due back into the library. If, for
some reason the receipt is lost, you may call 770-388-5040 to find out
when your items are due back. Youll need your library card number, so we
are able to bring up your account. You may also look up your account on
our website entering your library and PIN number.
Items may be renewed twice unless the item has been
placed on hold for another patron. Materials may be renewed in person, by
bringing the library card and item into the library, on-line or by
renewing the item over the telephone (770-388-5040.) When renewing by
phone you must have your library card and item with the corresponding
barcode. All items may be returned to the Nancy Guinn book drops or to
other PINES member libraries.
HOLDS
If an item owned by the library is not
available to check out, you may place a hold on-line or at the circulation
desk. This will reserve the item for you. Once the item is returned to the
Library, you will be notified by mail or e-mail. The item will be held for
7 days. If Nancy Guinn does not own a particular book, but it is in
another PINES library you may place the hold on it at the circulation
desk. The book will be sent from the other member library to the Nancy
Guinn Library and held so you can check it out.

RETURNING LIBRARY
MATERIALS
Please return all material inside the building when possible. For
after hours, there are book and media return boxes outside the front
entrance. Compact discs should be returned inside the building only,
please! Library materials may also be taken to the book/ media
return boxes located around the county. Materials will be picked up
by library staff and discharged according to the date of the last pickup
at that location. For locations, see
About the Library.
INTER-LIBRARY
LOANS
Adult and juvenile materials
not in the PINES library system may be borrowed from other libraries for
you. Your only fee would be the cost of the postage required to mail the
item to the library. Applications for interlibrary loans (ILL) are
available at the Reference Desk. ILL requests must be made in person.
LIBRARY CATALOG ( www.pines.lib.ga.us
)
The Patron Access Catalog (PAC) can
be accessed from home or on computers throughout the library and shows
where an item is located, its format and if it is on the shelf. If the
Nancy Guinn Library does not own a title, the PAC can be used to locate
titles at our other PINES libraries within Georgia.
